A Long Way Gone Chap: 3-5
I thought that it was extremely contradictory that the rebels were killing the people that they were "liberating." They tortured that messenger by branding him and cutting off all his fingers. If they captured people they would draft the ones they thought were strong enough and then kill the rest. I don't understand why they would do this, they could occupy the villages peacefully without killing any civilians, then draft some and have supporters for their movement. not to mention people to rule if they win.

I totally agree with this! It makes no sense why they would kill the people they were trying to help, but then again the whole situation doesn't make sense to me. Good job!
Great point here, Lee. This really emphasizes how pointless and tragic the fighting is.
